Raindrop as PKMS

So I have been using Raindrop.io↗ as PKMS (Personal Knowledge Management System) for a while now and I have to say I'm very satisfied.

In 2024 on X/Twitter I found a comment about a bookmark manager called Raindrop and how many people recommended it. I confess, I was intrigued the first time I read about it so I gave it a try.

Raindrop is avaliable for most operating systems but also has a webapp which I have been using since the very beginning. I'm tired of (un)installing software on my phone, tablet and PC thus I'd rather work directly from any browser.

Instead of importing my Firefox' bookmarks I decided to import one by one -yeah, I know! It took me ages- since there were a bunch of websites which I no longer used and many of them were 404.

Raindrop has the option to create collections that are folders so that you can classify your bookmarks.

I uploaded also some PDF and DOC files in order to manage them directly from Raindrop.

Even though the app has a free tier that has enough features I'd rather pay the Pro plan (3 bucks/monthly or 28 per year) since it allows me to scan all my files, links and easily find what I need. Besides the Pro plan has an upload limit of up to 10GB per month -free accounts are limited to 100MB-.

Raindrop as many other software offers an AI agent to help you to classify your bookmarks. The developer says it won't be used for training the AI though I disable it for privacy concerns.

Last but not least bookmarks and documents are private by default. Only you can see and manage them but if you want to share them you can do it by creating a collection and making it public.
