Productivity
Office↗: there are several alternatives to MS Office like LibreOffice, Open Office but when it comes to large spreadsheets with macros and formulas nothing beats Excel
Notion↗: best productivity app for creating workflows.
Notesnook↗: excellent note taking app for those who just need the basic and a bit more. Also privacy focused.
Raindrop↗: this is not only a bookmark manager, but also a great tool to enhance your productivity and save time when there are lots of links out there.
Browsers
Firefox↗: After more than 20 years since its first release I'm still using it as my main browser even though most people have switched to Chrome or other Chromium based ones.
Brave↗: best Chromium browser for those who take data privacy seriously.
DuckDuckGo↗: another browser focused on user's privacy. Give it a shot.
Security
Bitwarden↗: best password manager IMHO. Open source, no known security issues and free (there's a paid option which gives the user 1GB storage and 2FA for web logins)
Ente Auth↗: just discovered this piece of software recently and I loved it. FOSS and cross-platform. The best option to manage your 2F tokens across all your devices.
VeraCrypt↗: Veracrypt is a fork of TrueCrypt which has been ditched almost 10 years ago. It takes a few minutes to create a container and save all your precious files inside with strong encryption.
Misc
PeaZip↗: Tried different tools for (un)compressing files a ended up using this app since it's free and open source.
VLC↗: long time user here. It plays almost any multimedia file out there. Besides it's free and cross-platform.
